Concert > Jan Koppelin & friends

On August 17th, the singer from Rübeland embarks on a mysterious sound journey in the Goethe Hall of the Baumanns Cave.

South America and back

Jan Koppelin, a native of Rübeland, spent a decade traveling in the urban jungle of Bogotá and the mountains and jungles of Colombia. An illness led him to research the practices and rituals of the indigenous population. They showed him the causes and ways out of suffering through a connection back to nature and an intensive musical-creative process. He is now presenting his first EP “Kolibri” in the Baumanns Cave. The Spanish and German songs, full of natural motifs and gentle visual power, tell the story of a personal healing process. Together with his audience, the musician stumbles over the big and small questions of existence: Who am I and where is my place? How do you say goodbye and how do you arrive? What do I have to let go of and how does that work with freedom?

Chants, handpan, guitars, flutes and more: Old and new companions will accompany Jan Koppelin on stage and make the event more than a concert into a sound journey: Violeta Koleva (Bulgaria), Robin Lienau, David Müller (both Lüneburg), Daniela Seidel (Berlin), Pinon Barry (Dresden), among others.
